Program Overview

South Sudan Relief Foundation (SSRF) implements a community-centred Protection Program that combines prevention, response and community empowerment. Our interventions are survivor-centred, rights-based, and tailored to fragile contexts where access to services is limited.

Key Objectives

  • Prevent and respond to violence, exploitation and abuse.
  • Strengthen community-based protection mechanisms and referral systems.
  • Deliver psychosocial support and resilience-building for survivors.
  • Promote legal awareness and access to justice.
  • Foster gender equality and social inclusion.

Core Activities

SSRF delivers a package of complementary protection services designed for impact across conflict-affected communities.

GBV Prevention & Response

  • Community awareness campaigns on GBV prevention and survivor rights.
  • Safe spaces for women, children and persons with disabilities.
  • Psychosocial counselling, case management and referral services.
  • Engagement of men and boys as prevention allies.

  • Support to child protection committees and school-based awareness.
  • Prevention of early and forced marriage and referral of at-risk children.

Disability Inclusion

  • Advocacy for equal participation and access to services.
  • Training of service providers on accessibility and inclusive practices.
  • Provision of basic assistive devices where feasible.

Psychosocial Support & Access to Justice

Healing and accountability are central to sustainable recovery. SSRF invests in mental health, social support and legal literacy.

Psychosocial Support

  • Trauma-healing group sessions, individual counselling and peer support.
  • Training local counselors and community health workers in basic psychosocial care.

Access to Justice

  • Community legal education on human rights, survivor protections and domestic law.
  • Facilitation of dialogues between communities and authorities to strengthen protection pathways.

Coordination & Referral

We maintain referral linkages with health, education, and protection clusters — ensuring survivors receive multi-sectoral care.

Selected Achievements

  • Established safe spaces serving over 600 women and children across Morobo County.
  • Trained 50 community protection volunteers in GBV prevention and case management.
  • Provided psychosocial and reintegration support to dozens of GBV survivors.
